Announcing a community benefit concert in support of those who have been displaced and adversely affected by the Maui fires. As you surely know, Maui was recently hit by several wild fires including one which devastated the historic town of Lahaina. 115 people are currently known to have perished. Approximately 2200 structures burned, and about 1500 of these were residential, leaving thousand homeless. Nineteen homes were also destroyed by two other Maui fires. Our hearts are broken.
The "ALOHA MAUI: A Benefit for the People of Lahaina" Concert and Silent Auction will take place on Sunday, September 17th at the Historic Ashland Armory with amazing music by some of Southern Oregon’s finest bands and musicians, all of whom are donating their time and helping to promote the event. Expect an evening of amazing music by the Rogue Suspects various projects ~ Tina Turner Tour, The Girls, and the Eagles Tribute ~ as well as music by Alice Di Micele, Petty Thievery, Ha’ena, The Fret Drifters, Alcyon Massive, plus Hula Dancing by Halau Hula O Nuku ‘Aina (A passage in the land).
Be sure to bring your dancing shoes!

100% of Funds Raised Will Go To Support the People of Maui Who Were Displace and Traumatized by These Fires
We have chosen 3 local Maui or Hawaii non-profit organizations which have existing relations with numerous organizations on Maui which are doing on-the-ground work to support those who were displaced or negatively impacted by the Lahaina Fire, and the other Maui Fires. In researching the various options of organizations to support, we valued well established, well respected organizations; organizations that are passing through 100% of the donations they receive for their own Maui fire funds to the people who need it; organizations that have years of track record working either directly with people in need on Maui and/or with smaller organizations on Maui which are doing that work; organizations specifically working with and supporting the Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians); organizations that are working with those who have the least and need help the most; organizations which support the vision of helping the people of Lahaina lead the way in rebuilding their community. These are the three organizations we chosen, and their Maui Fire projects:
1) Maui Aloha: The People’s Response ~ part of the Hawai`i People’s Fund

2) Kāko‘o Maui Fund ~ part of CNHA, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement

3) Maui Fire and Disaster Relief ~ part of Maui United Way

We are also still looking into choosing a fourth organization to support, one that is helping animals displaced and traumatized by the Maui wildfires.
