Hanuman's Heart: The Essence of Bhakti and Service
Hanuman’s Heart: The Essence of Bhakti and Service
Retreat June 7 – 9, 2024
The Neem Karoli Baba Ashram is hosting a retreat at the ashram in collaboration with the Ram Dass Love Serve Remember Foundation. This will be a three-day retreat featuring the notable bhakta and kirtan singer Jai Uttal; RamDev Borglum, the founder and director of The Living/Dying Project, author, teacher, lecturer, and meditation guide; and Nubia Teixeira, yogini, teacher trainer, Odissi dancer, and founder of Bhakti Nova School of Yoga.
The focus of the retreat will be on service and devotion and their interconnectedness. Neem Karoli Baba said “Love everyone, serve everyone and remember God”. The teachers will talk about and explore ways in which selfless service is devotion in action and how serving others deepens our love for God and one another. There will be opportunities during the retreat to do seva (service) at the ashram. One of the main focuses of the ashram is to feed people and the seva will revolve around serving in the kitchen and garden, where the ashram grows the vegetables for the prasad (blessed food) it serves to all who come.
The retreat will begin on Friday afternoon June 7, at 2 p.m. with registration and culminate on Sunday night June 9, at 9 p.m. with Kirtan by Jai Uttal.
The retreat will be on the ashram grounds and will be limited to 100 participants. All retreat activities will take place at the ashram. Vegetarian (Satvic, no eggs, onions or garlic) breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. There will be up to 40 campsites available for those who would like to spend the whole time at the ashram. Campers must provide their own camping gear (i.e., tent, towel and bedding etc.). Campsites will be assigned at registration on Friday, June 7. Showers and bathroom facilities are provided. Those who do not camp at the ashram will have to provide their own off-site housing. A list of recommended hotels and B&Bs will be provided upon request. Offsite participants will have to provide their own transportation to and from the ashram. Parking will be provided for retreant vehicles.
