This six-week IN PERSON Level 1 Sanskrit & Kundalini Yoga Chant Class is a perfect INTRO for those looking for fun and practical guidance around "How to" launch their own home CHANT practice!
Within a safe supportive space, Mike Cohen, Dawnia Dresser and Michele Heaphy offer a fun program that guides and supports beginning Kirtan Leaders to launch a home chant practice.
This beginner-friendly program is designed for ultimate newbies, harmonium explorers, and anyone seeking an accessible, entry level immersion into Western Kirtan.
Weekly classes (90 minutes long) create a perfect structure for beginning chant leaders. You will learn to sing and play (on the harmonium) six chants from Krishna Das and Snatam Kaur, connect with an amazing community, have big fun and step into this exquisite heart-opening practice in a new and deep way!
You will learn to:
*Learn 7 beautiful song you can chant for yourself or others
*Connect your voice to your heart and deepen your personal path of devotion
*Gain confidence in playing basic harmonium chords while chanting songs/mantras
*Connect with a vibrant community of kindred spirits
*Gain mythic + energetic understandings of beloved mantras and deities
*Be inspired by stories from Mike’s 25 years experience with the practice of Kirtan
*Access guidance and support from our amazing KLI instructors -Mike Cohen, Dawnia Dresser & Michele Heaphy.
*Have lots of fun stepping into an amazing spiritual practice!
You will emerge with the confidence and skill to step into your own home practice and perhaps even gift your community with the blessing of sacred chant.

Held at Jeanie Manchester’s Anjaneya Yoga Shala – 1480 Violet Ave, Boulder, Colorado 80304. Please park out front and to the West of her house.
HARMONIUM:
To participate you will need to beg, borrow, steal, rent, own or purchase a GOOD harmonium. Please bring your harmonium to all classes. Let me know if you need help lining up a good harmonium. We have access to good harmoniums you can rent and take home for the duration of the six week class ($100), and great harmoniums you can purchase (starting at $900). ABOUT MIKE COHEN, MA
Mike Cohen, MA is founder of Kirtan Leader Institute. Since 2010 he has trained and apprenticed thousands of aspiring and emerging Kirtan Leaders across the globe, from total beginners to dozens he has guided to create/release Kirtan albums, play at festivals and tour nationally.
ABOUT DAWNIA DRESSER
Since 2017 Dawnia Dresser has taught at KLI (vocals, harmonium and guitar) and served as lead singer with Mike Cohen & the Shakti Groove. Based in Boulder, CO, Dawnia is an Anusara inspired yoga teacher and lifelong vocalist/musician who released her debut Kirtan album (From the Soul) in 2019. During her 19 years in Los Angeles, CA Dawnia co-created three albums of original folk-rock music and contributed extensively on albums and movies as a vocalist and voiceover artist.
ABOUT MICHELE HEAPHY
Michele Heaphy’s diverse career spans music education, pottery studio ownership, and leading Kirtan. Her unwavering passion for education has spanned all levels of age and experience. Since 2021, she’s shared her expertise as an instructor at the Kirtan Leader Institute through online group classes, personalized mentoring sessions, and in-person intensive workshops in Boulder, CO. She has been a member of Mike Cohen & the Shakti Groove since 2021. Her deeply moving and inspiring compositions have been delighting live audiences since 2015, with a global reach thanks to a series of singles released from 2022 onward.

CLASS SIZE:
Class size will be limited to 20 participants to create a high-touch learning environment. This program runs six weeks with a total of 9 hours of instruction in how to launch your own home chant practice and perhaps even share with others!
